Group Health Plans

AvMar offers a group health insurance plan for crew on our payroll with Aetna Global Benefits. This global plan covers crew anywhere they may reside or travel worldwide. We did not delve into looking for a health insurance plan lightly and took a lot of time and effort to find the right one. After much research we found that Aetna had the most to offer our crew and we continue to get positive feedback from those on the plan, further validating our choice.

AGB provides quality care and member support services 24 hours a day, worldwide, with access to member service representatives via toll free phone, fax, or email. The plan assures members have access to the best care possible, connecting them with qualified medical experts and facilities in over 500 international destinations.

The plan AvMar offers includes Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, in addition to the medical, vision, and dental coverage. Furthermore, the plan of benefits includes the following programs:

Prescription Drug Plan
Emergency assistance services, including emergency evacuation in extreme circumstances. (Collect calls are accepted)
International Employee Assistance Program
24 hour Health Information line with direct access to U.S. registered nurses.
Access to the AGB website, www.aetna.com/agb

The AGB online resources offer a wide range of tools and information to help crew better understand and use their global benefits. Access to the website requires a username and password, which can be initially set up once the ID card arrives. The site is fairly user friendly and will walk through the registration process step-by-step.

Online resources include:

Global physician/hospital search
Health and security information for over 200 countries
Translation guides for medical phrases and drug terminology in many languages
Online forms, including claim forms, etc.
Access to Aetna Navigator, an online tool that gives access to personalized benefit information

AvMar Payroll Services office staff is more than happy to assist crew with all facets of the health insurance plan. We understand that insurance can be confusing and frustrating and try to make the entire process as painless as possible, from initial sign up to the submission of claims. We encourage our crew to call or email our office with any questions or problems that may arise. If we don't have the answers, our Aetna representatives will, and they are always pleasant and cooperative.
